The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention has issued a warning, 5 people have been hospitalized from salmonella tainted dog food. The dog food in question is manufactured by Diamond Pet Foods. Salmonella Infantis has been reported in 9 states, a total of 14 people have become ill from the tainted dry dog food.
One of my daily dog walking clients was very ill in April and now we know why! Poor guy was was on Taste of the Wild.
Go to this link to get the latest information on what brands are affected as it is expanding daily. I read on another site that cat food is now also suspect. Your pet does not have to show outward signs of the illness to have been affected, so check your current stock of food regardless of their health.
Thank you for sending this information! I found that I have been feeding my dogs Taste of the Wild food with the dates and codes of the recalled bags! Now I have to decide if I want to stay with that brand which we just switched to after using IAMS for years 🙁
Glad you were diligent and checked, Paula. This is the second time in recent history for a major recall from dog foods manufactured by Diamond Pet Foods. I switched my dogs off TOW just 6 months ago once I realized it was manufactured by Diamond, thank goodness!
Not only is Ace off TOTW I sterilized all the dishes and food container over the weekend. His bag also has the recalled production code and date. Not good for a dog with an already sensitive stomach!! Thanks Joanne for spreading the word on this as I think CT was the recipient of a lot of food from this particular facility in SC.
Poor Ace! I think this is more widespread than current reports.
