Fireworks! Thunder! Oh, No!
Dog anxiety is a surprisingly common problem and includes fear of thunder, fireworks and separation issues. These anxieties can often become serious problems for owners resulting in destroyed furniture, damaged homes, personal injury, problem barking, aggression and much more.
I have been having much success testing a new product called “Thundershirt”. It has a dramatic calming effect for most dog anxiety issues and has helped my own senior dog Tracy cope with dreaded thunderstorms. She will now play ball in the house during a storm when she would normally run and hide and shake like a leaf.
You may have already seen me use TTouch (hand pressure to the dogs nervous system) which has a calming effect making it easier for the dog to relax and focus, allowing me to help them overcome a specific anxiety. The Thundershirt is designed to do just that without having to learn and become certified in TTouch.
This is by NO means a substitute for more severe anxiety and will be ineffective without being introduced by a certified professional trainer in conjunction with a rehabilitation program. However, if your dog has just a slight to moderate anxiety such a fear of thunderstorms, then the Thundershirt can be a perfect solution with no further training needed.

Have a Happy 4th of July
and may your dog fear fireworks no more!
